Happy List

>> June 2, 2010

I'm back! From my unofficial MIA. I'm not really sure what happened.. I guess with the weekend, and with life.. I just didn't have any blogger time. But I'm back!

These are some things that are making me happy this week..

  • Family BBQs - my cousins came in from California, it was good to see them and everyone on Memorial Day. YUMMY food too! We need to make it an occurrence that happens often!

  • Oliver..  My favorite boy.

               I can't believe he's almost 1!

July 2009
  • My new apple keyboard!! On Sunday our keyboard just stopped working! The stupid space bar just decided it had lived a long enough life, and was retiring. So sad! I even tweated:
nicoleelkington: myspacebarstoppedoworking!;(

(I don't know why I added an 'o'.. I guess my space bar stopped o-working?)
  • But now I have this! and it.is.awesome! It really is the little things.. right?

  • LAKERS back in the NBA Finals. Love them.

  • Lee won Idol! He's the best! I can't wait to see him in concert & buy his CD!

  • and, last, but definitely not last: the latest Harry Potter trailer. I am so pumped for some HP!

He's the only guy this season that I have voted for.
(the only girl is Crystal.. and she's in a FAR second compared to Lee, in my book)
and.. he's the only one that I want to win.

    Love him.

This dude is good too! Although I DID feel kind of old when I knew the Paula Abdul lyrics.. and my little sister didn't. Eek.

I like his soulful twist on it, straight up.

Although the original video DOES a great tribute to the 80s, we'd never have music videos open up quite like THAT now! haha

I wonder what Paula was thinking.

Do you have a favorite American Idol yet?

    Road Trip!

    >> September 2, 2009

    As this post is published..

I am on my way to Idaho Falls..
    WHY Idaho Falls you ask?

    Two words: David. Cook

Ash and I are driving up to Idaho Falls for two days, just so we can see the one and only Dave Cook. Why is he going to tiny Idaho Falls and not Salt Lake City? No idea, but hell, what better excuse for a mini Road Trip than great musical expertise like his? Yeah, I thought so too. Pictures (taken with my new camera!!) coming soon.

    Have a Happy Happy Wednesday.

    Fall TV

    >> August 12, 2009

I'm so excited for Fall TV! The CW is starting a lot of their shows in September, which is awesome , and makes me super excited.

So here are some bulleted TV-ness:

    • I thought Grey's Anatomy was all decided and out: Katie/Izzie was coming back, T.R./George was not.. And this seems to fully confirm it. But what are they going to do about Ellen Pompeo's pregnant-ness?
    • American Idol: Paula's gone. Yahoooz. I was sick of listening to her babble that just kept going and going and going, and didn't have a point. AND her clapping and dancing! Ugh! Now they have announced that some guests judges will basically replace Paula. Some confirmed guest judges are Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham: That'll be fun!
    • Fringe: The season finale was so good! I almost forgot what it was about and then I heard that they have decided to have two alternative universes this year. One where Peter's father is in one universe, and then Peter and all of us are in 'this universe.' BUT I have decided that I would like a ticket to the other Universe! John Lennon is still alive on that side! I wonder how much a plane ticket to over there would be....
(pssssst.. I know I can't really do it, but if I could, wouldn't that be awesome?!)
    • Jay Leno: this premiers September 14th, with Rihanna's first appearance after the Chris Brown crap, she'll be on Jay with Kanye and Jay Z. Will I be watchin'? You better believe it.
    • Vampire Diaries: Have you seen the preview for this? It looks kinda good.. and kinda laughable. It looks like a cheesy weekly version of Twilight - as if Twilight wasn't already cheesy enough.. But, I have to admit, I will probably watch the first episode. I can't embed the video for the Trailer, but the link is here.

These are the Premieres I'm looking forward to.. (is it sad that I get this excited? oops)
For the premiere calendar from TV guide click here.

    • Sept 8: 90210 / Melrose Place (man this feels like deja vu..)
    • Sept 10: Vampire Diaries / Supernatural
    • Sept 14: One Tree Hill / Gossip Girl / Jay Leno
    • Sept 16: The Beautiful Life (complete with drama from Mischa Barton, and produced by Ashton Kutcher)
    • Sept 17: Fringe / SNL Weekend Update Thursday
    • Sept 21: House / Heroes
    • Sept 24: Grey's Anatomy
    • Sept 27: The Amazing Race

    monday musings

    >> May 18, 2009

i like bullets. haven't done them for awhiles. so lets get some random, non-capitalized, bullets. shall we?

    • as explained in this post, i was very excited for the grey's anatomy finale last thursday. i was not disappointed! i couldn't believe the twist with 007, and the elevator scene at the end. i personally believe that izzy will push the elevator back up, choose to come back to alex, and leave george behind :( or maybe that is what i'm hoping. i don't think i'll watch the show if izzie's not there. she was who got me interested in the show in the first place. always loved katie heigl. clear back from my father the hero .
    • haven't had our reviews at work yet. who knows what that means. i really thought they were supposed to be on friday, but they weren't. how annoying - we all know that she had to turn them in to HR and management on thursday , so its not like she's pondering what to say. geeeze.
    • i have a wii fit addiction. i have lost give or take, 7 pounds, because of that beautiful invention. i have also been struggling to eat right as well. but i had pizza on thursday night, and friday afternoon, and it made me feel so sick and greasy by friday night! i guess pizza no longer does well in my we eat a lot of vegetables body.
    • there's a new wii thing now: wii active. i want it. anyone want to buy nikki a present? cuz that's what she wants.
    • american idol: i hope adam wins. i truly do. i guess whatever happens, happens. because really, adam will be going places either way. and in all honesty, they both will. i just like winning, so i think he should win, because i think he deserves it. capiche?
    • had a lot of fun with amanda last week, at costa vida. she's so funny. i love it. we are planning on screaming our lungs out on the catapult again this year, june 13th, here we come.
    • notice how i'm planning a month ahead? thats what i've been doing lately. i'm like "okay, so wanna go to see that movie? i can go monday or wednesday.." and then i have it all planned out. i don't know if its because i feel like i don't have a lot of evenings off, so when i do, i'm like k lets go! but i amuse myself. at least i already know i'm going to lagoon at least twice. plus, i gotta go with the brother and sister at least once. i love lagoon. its my version of a vacation this summer. don't judge.
    • i'm going to see angels and demons this week. yay for me. i loved the book. but maybe that is just cuz i loved roma.
    • i told hikmet i can't do the book festival this year, a few days ago. i felt bad. i really wanted to do it, but where i'm working full time at the rack, and taking 17 credits, i just don't think its mathematically possible to fit in 20 hours of book festival-ness. although, i will at least be going to the festival this year. october 24th is already blocked off in my planner. haha.
    • yay lakers yesterday! they. are. the. best. bring it on denver, i dare ya.
    • and i'll close with one of my favorite quotes. i love john lennon. but you guys know that ;) If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace. ~ John Lennon

    Idol Worship

    >> May 13, 2009

I have a confession to make, I have committed the 2nd sin of idolatry. I have a severe infatuation with Adam Lambert's voice. I love it.

Adam will be the next American Idol.

I am SO SO SO SO glad Danny went home.

    Sadness!

    >> May 7, 2009

I'm really disappointed that Allison went home! I can't believe it. I really do think that she will go very very far after this. But I'm more devastated by the poll we have going, where Adam is only barely winning?! What's up with that?! It almost feels like the season where I knew Chris Daughtry was the very best singer on the whole show and somehow everyone else was either hypnotized by Katherine McPhee {who has now sunk back into the depth of no one even knows who you are } or Growling crazy "drunk" performer Taylor Hicks. Argh ~

    Adam all the way!

Ps~ I could care less about the crazy pictures of him. So what, he's gay! Its not like he has leprosy! I would seriously die if anyone said they didn't like him because he was gay.

    Adam Lambert
    The next American Idol!

Adam Lambert is amazing. I don't see how so many people don't see that! I get all these messages about how everyone loves Kris and {insert hurl} Danny! Now I know, I know, when the season first started I mentioned Danny here, and even liked him. But now! I am so disgusted by him! He growls and last night he totally screamed, like a cat dying as my sister said. It was awful! He's totally Taylor Hick-esque, and that's never good.

Adam should definitely win this season, and Allison should get second. I am seriously hoping that Danny gets kicked off tonight! Crossing my fingers! Who can deny that after their smashin' duet last night? Seriously?!

Who do you like the best? I added a new poll on the side, so vote!

    Je pense..

    >> March 10, 2009

Bullets. I like bullets. As long as they are on a computer screen.. Guns are bad - but we will leave that for another time. On to some bulleted ramblings.

    • On Friday piece of shit Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir kicked out THIRTEEN HUMANITARIAN AID GROUPS OUT OF SUDAN. because he was so pissed off about his arrest warrant being issued by the ICC a few days prior (see blog post here). I am so mad! If you want to sign the International Rescue Committee's petition to the United Nations about al-Bashir's actions, click here: http://ga3.org/campaign/aid_sud.
    • Then as if that wasn't enough, he toured the city of El Fashir, the capital of Sudan's Darfur region... He makes my blood boil!
    • Proposition 8 is being re-thought about in the California State Supreme Court. They are attempting to overturn the ridiculous proposition that barely passed last November. The argument is one I agree with: The Majority should never be allowed to take rights away from the Minority and call it "democracy."
    • I finally watched the Oliver Stone movie W this week. Josh Brolin did such an awesome job at playing President George W. Bush! The movie was good, the plot was interesting ~but I really think my favorite part was how they were able to imitate all those famous faces so well! My favorite was definitely "dubya" but after that Condie Rice and Cheney were pretty good too.
    • Speaking of Mr. awful former Vice President Cheney, he is on CNN this weekend on State of the Union with John King. Should be very interesting.
    • I know it has been said a lot.. and my opinion is probably obvious to everyone who knows me, but all I have to say is Rush. Limbaugh. Seriously?!?!? He makes me SOOO nauseous!
    • I also watched Body of Lies this weekend. It was really good. I love me some Leonardo DiCaprio. Russell Crowe.. not so much. But I guess that is why I was so suspicious of his character during the entire movie. It was very interesting though. That, and Eagle Eye, remind me of each other. Sometimes I'm like WOW we really have that much surveillance? That is actually kind of neat. And then I think of 1984, which I just read a few weeks ago and think.. Oh no..
In happier news. I am so excited for American Idol's Top 13 tonight!

The Future Needs a Big Kiss...

    >> February 20, 2009

    • Noah Wyle was on ER last night. That makes me happy. I am not happy however that the episode ended with him being on dialysis! If they kill Dr John Carter.. so help me..
    • Speaking of killing doctors. Have you heard that Katherine Heigl and T R Knight have been booted off Grey's Anatomy?? Katherine Heigl's character, Izzie Stephens has been my favorite since the beginning. The rumor is that they're going to kill her off, and with the way the story line's going.. Eek! I've loved Katherine Heigl ever since her movie, My Father the Hero, and I loved her on Roswell. But, she is in a new movie, The Ugly Truth, with Gerard Butler, so maybe it'll be good.
    • American Idol: all I have to say is: Yay. Danny. Gokey! and hallelujah Tatiana is gone. Yuck. AND I have to say, what's up with Paula's face? Her face is all weird.. all old lady, over tanned looking. Crazy. Or, maybe her makeup is just weird. I don't know.
    • In other non TV news.. I am counting down until U2's New Album, No Line on the Horizon comes out. March 3rd. I like the new Breathe song and Moment of Surrender might be my new favorite song... You can listen to them on Myspace, click here. The title of this post comes from a line in the Get on your Boots song, that U2 performed at the Grammy's.
    • Papa Roach also has an album coming out on March 24th. Yay! To listen to their single, Lifeline, click here. Thanks for telling me Ash! I like it. But I think scars, is my all time favorite song of theirs.
    • They are now having a French minor at UVU. I think I might do it. We will see. We will see. Too bad I can't go on the French study abroad in Nice and Paris this summer. I am so jealous - and it really would help me get a lot more credits. Sigh. I hate money!
    • I don't get to work at Macy's anymore. Not that I really wanted to.. but now I am not allowed. Ha. I got the job at Nordstrom Rack, and after they called to verify my employment with Macy's, the retarded human resources lady at Macy's called to tell me it would be a conflict of interest if I worked for both. I was going to quit anyway, but I just think it's lame. But I have issues with Macy's anyway. Yucks.
    • Last but not least, Yay for the Oscars this weekend!! I am excited. I still haven't seen all the movies, so that's crappy, but I really loved Benjamin Button, and I LOVE Brad Pitt anyways, so there ya go.
    Happy Friday!

    American Idol 8

    >> January 15, 2009

Yay I'm so excited about American Idol!! It really does make each January a little less dreary when I'm like Wahoo, American Idol is on~!

The video below is of Danny Gokey, a contestant that made it through to Hollywood last night. His story is so sad. His wife had just died a few weeks prior to his audition.. and he sings pretty good. I hope he goes far.

Ps: I like the new judge, Kara, she's yet to say an annoying Paulaesque comment.

    24 Things

    >> December 23, 2008

I decided, that I am a list person. And, now that I have been 25 for one week, I have decided that 24 was a good year, and before I get too old
and senile, I am going to write a list of things I accomplished when I was 24.

    9. I got hit on by a German-Italian waiter in Berlin - who then gave us free Fanta.

    11. Planned to move out of the country..
    12. Then fled from a Crazy Germany family - on a train - by myself.

    24. Plugged along in school - even when I wanted to strangle my Grant Writing professor.

I love him, I love him.. When does his CD come out?!

    Dream Big

When I was a little boy
I swore that I would change the world
    when I grew up
    nothing else would be enough
back then it all seemed black and white
    but these days
I just can't seemed to find
    the child in me
    who always believed

    I see it every day
    We settle for safe
And lose ourselves along the way

But if we don't Dream Big
    What's the use in dreaming
    If you don't have faith
    there's nothing worth believing
    It takes one hope
To make the stars worth reaching for
So reach out for something more

Took a while to perfect a plan
    for me to finally understand
    that it's not me
faith is something you can't see
    I loose the reins
    and let them go
I broke the chains of fear
that had their hold on me too long
when all I felt was wrong

    I've wiped my tears away
now it's time for a change
No, I can't waste another day

But if we don't Dream Big
    What's the use in dreaming
    If you don't have faith
    there's nothing worth believing
    It takes one hope
To make the stars worth reaching for
    So close your eyes
and tell me what you see
    between what's real
    and make believe
    here's the path
    we've all been searching for
so reach out for something more

    than you could ever imagine
    then move
don't wait for it to happen
    life's too short
    for not taking chances
the stars aren't as far as they seem
