The Earth Laughs in Flowers ~ who doesn't love Emerson?

>> April 20, 2010

Oh man, I want these shoes. Stupid Nordstrom emails. I mean, really? Who has $120 to spend on these super cute Dansko sandals?! Not me.. that's for sure.. but I still want them. Yes, yes I do.

I love that its all summery now in Utah! FINALLY! Except that its supposed to rain tomorrow.. so it was short lived. But rain can be good too, right? I really do like rain, I just feel like that time should be over now. I'm ready for SUMMER.
I think I have some sort of 'spring fever' or something. I just want to be outside, sitting in the warm sun, not at school or work, being productive! Ick!

Yesterday I went walking with my friend Alisha. It was good. We are going to try to do it on a weekly basis, and maybe that will get me motivated to work out again. I still haven't bought a gym membership.. and yeah, first I blamed it on my debit card fiasco with the fabulous Jordan Credit Union, but now its just like.. I'm.. lazy. I might join in May though. Let's make it a May thing, right? I have all of May and most of June off from in-person school (meaning I have online classes that start in May). THAT in itself makes me so excited! I get to work normal hours at work - YES! I will only be working from 9a to 3:30p - so it better not rain too much in May because I am going to Lagoon dammit!

On Sunday Ash, Tim and I went to Lagoon. It was fun! But for some reason we were all totally worn out afterwards, and we left before the park even closed. Must be something in the Water.. Or maybe we just aren't used to being in the warm warm sun after that loooong annoying Winter, who knows. But aren't we cute? I loves them.

Two of my friends are graduating this week and next week. I love that I will always feel academically inferior to Jihyei and Alisha. Just kidding, just kidding. I am proud of them! Jihyei is getting her Law Degree - LAW degree. WOW! and Alisha is getting her Master's in Education.. but somehow, I doubt either one of them is really finished with school. Silly, silly girls. Jihyei is spending her summer in Maryland with her parents, so we all got together last week. I know I don't see her very often, but I'm going to miss her, nonetheless. Maybe a trip to DC is in my future - what a good excuse to see Jihyei and Barack, right? Just say yes. Here's us at Jihyei's house, we had a lot of fun. I look gynormously tall in this picture.. I really am sitting on the edge of the couch. I swear. Blah.

Lindsey, Suzanne, Daija, Jihyei, Alisha, Me

Alisha's graduation is perfect for me, becaaaaaaause its down in Cedar City - southern Utah. So, I get to go on a mini road trip! How cool is that?! I'm excited. Not that there's a TON to do in Cedar City, but its the act of escaping for a couple days that sounds superb. So, next weekend. Me = Mini Vacation.

I'm also going out to Dinner with Ol' Accessories Dept, Rack people tomorrow. I am excited for that too.. yeah, see? How am I supposed to lose weight when all I do is go out to eat? Should probably fix that.. maybe I'll become an avid bowler. Ha, yeah right.

How is YOUR Tuesday?

shopping totally burns calories.. right?

>> August 24, 2009

the past week-ish has been fun. i went to lagoon with amanda, i love going with amanda! we have so much fun, and yes we rode the catapult again (see last year's post here, to understand, we look much more frightened last year!).

lagoon with amanda '09 pics:

worked a lot (translated to the not so fun part) and i have inventory tonight - ugh...

but the best part is all the shopping and fun things i've been able to buy..

i bought a new camera! the one i've been coveting for forever and ever and ever and ever.. its the sony cybershot d320, with 12.1 MP. yeah, its awesome, i love it. and its my favorite color, which is just an added super bonus.

i spent $90 dollars at ulta, and got myself a whole new makeup set. i love it. i bought this cool black organizer set that holds tons of difeferent colors of ulta eyeshadows, and then the bottom layer has bronzers, lip stuff, and eye liners. then i had to get the free gift, so i bought the $17.50 worth of ulta stuff (the organizer didn't count), and then got the free ulta fall gift! (complete with the awesome purple bag, i'll see if i can find a picture to show ya'll). i was excited.

free gift from Ulta, fall 09

and today i bought the necklace at my work that i have wanted for ages. its gold, so then i could never decide if i really wanted it, cuz i'm not really a gold person.. but i love it, and its fun, so i got it. yay me.

my white purse also broke :( so what did i do? bought a new one! haha. i bought a cute turquoise-ish blue roxy purse from macy's. for 20 bucks!

so what's left on the buying to-do list? well, i still have to buy a few more school books before school starts on wednesday. (speaking of which, could i order just a few more weeks of summer instead? thanks). and i really want to buy a laptop. but i'm not really sure what kind to get. i kind of want the product (red) edition of the dell inspiron laptops.. but then .... i can't decide, and i don't feel like i know enough about laptops, to make a for sure, yes yes, decision, so any feedback or advice would be super appreciated. i'm a mac girl, what can i say? i just don't have the $1,000 dollars to spend on a mac book. damn.

.. OH and a car! nicole seriously needs some new wheels. cheap ones though, so that goes the same with advice, or "car leads" .. let me know.

sigh.. i guess shopping IS a good way to end the summer, and get back to the crazy hectic school life - with an added internship to spice things up this time around, i might just fall off the blogosphere, except that's what that laptop is for, time between classes + a laptop = blogging. right? never homework. ick. bad word.

You'll Thank Me Later

>> August 14, 2009

I have been to Lagoon quite a few times this Summer, because I love Roller coasters, and that's what I do. However, I remember a not so happy ride that I had once on a Roller coaster. It went something like this:

My family and I were at a Lagoon Day one Summery Saturday, with my Mom's work. I was probably 9 or 10. I loved this one Roller coaster, the Colossus, which is a very fast roller coaster, complete with a super high initial climb, and thrilling drop that leads into a double loop-di-loop. No, the Colossus is not made for sissies. But I always loved it. I had never rode it without my parents hands over my hand, holding my hand tight as I grimaced on the way up. I hated that ride up.

Well, on this day, my mom's friend from work took me on the Colossus. No big deal, at least so I thought. She made me put my hands up in the air! And wouldn't let me put them down. I hated it (and her)! It was awful. I did not have fun, I did not enjoy, and I certainly did not thank her for it later.
Fast forward to the present day, and I love roller coasters, and you will hardly ever see me with my hands down on the coasters. But will you ever see me force anyone to go on one? No. Will you ever see me make a child ride it, or make them put their hands up when they don't want to? Hell No.

So, as you can imagine, this summer as I have seen countless parents FORCE their children to ride big scary rides, (even Wicked), it makes me sad. And very angry. I hate the adage of You'll Thank Me for it Later.. uhhhh, what if I won't? I still remember my traumatizing experience with my mom's friend, and how scared I was. It doesn't matter that I love the Colossus now. Ugh. It drives me nuts.

But this practice goes further than roller coasters. Do you think its right to force your kids to do something that they don't want to do, even if you think they'll regret not doing it later? I firmly believe its not okay to force them to do anything (if you can control it: some things are out of a parent's control). I want to have my child's trust, so that they know they can tell me how they feel about something, and I'll support them, no matter what.

.. and if they regret it later, I can help them deal with that.

What's your opinion?

I <3 Lagoon

These are the Lagoon pictures from mine, Ashley's and Timmy's two visits to Lagoon in June and July..

This is where Ashley and Tim decided they LOVE roller coasters, and can't wait to go back! On one of the rides, The Spider, Tim put his hands up longer than I did! Which, is amazing, considering neither one of them were too excited about the roller coasters when we first went.. but now they are converted! Yay!

July has had a GREAT start

>> July 10, 2009

July has been a pretty good month. Typically, when I think of July I think of 3 things: my sister's birthday, the 4th of July, and yuckee, sticky hot weather-ness. But these things, plus additional July things, like Lagoon and new baby kittens have made the start of this month much more enjoyable!

Here are a few pictures, to show our fun: for more pics, see my facebook albums here: Lagoon with Ash & Tim, 4th of July, and kittens.

Lagoon 2009

>> May 25, 2009

I bought a Season Pass to Lagoon, and this weekend - Saturday - was my first time using it. I love Lagoon. It might be a little crazy, and even a little childish, but I do. I love Roller coasters, and the good food, and going with friends. I went with Kim & Heather this time, and it was a lot of fun. (even if Kim refused to ride Wicked again - geeze)

Here's some pictures of our fun day:

Me & Kim rode the Hydroluge, which I haven't been on in years . It was fun! Heather didn't want to get wet yet..

Log Flume!

After Rattle Snake Rapids. We got so wet! This is Heather trying to dry her hair.. look how wet her pants are! We never used to get that wet on Rattle Snake. Maybe that's why it was closed every time I went last year, they revved it up more.

Being traditional.. and riding The Carousel. I rode a Zebra bare back! haha. Heather rode a Chicken.. who knows how that works exactly.

I didn't ride Catapult again. yet . But this summer.. I'm going to ride it again. ;)

I love Lagoon

It's what fun is!

log flume

Recently I got to go to Lagoon twice, in just over a week or so, with one of my favorite friends: Amanda. We had so much fun! The first time we went, was on a Saturday and it was super crowded at first. But at about 4 pm or so the power went out! Luckily, we weren't stranded on a ride, we were just in line for Wicked (the best ride ever), we weren't sure what to do, but we decided to wait around and see if they'd get the power back on. They did about an hour and a half later and it was kind of nice because by then some of the crowd had left the park, and we got to have a little bit more breathing room, and not so many annoying stroller traffic jams!

skycoaster

I love this ride!

the best.. and scariest part of the ride!
the rush.. the hesitation.. and the drop!

I love Wicked!

But, since the power went out, we got to go back another day for free. So, we went again this last Tuesday. I loved it. I have now been on Wicked a gazillion times, and LOVE it. Especially being in the very front. We even tried to do it with our arms in the air.. and our eyes closed, that was a weird sensation in my stomach!

this isn't us.. but it's a pic of the ride from the Lagoon website

looking super nervous before our Launch

At the end of the night, we decided to ride The Catapult. It's an awesome, but scary ride. I loved that so much! I wish you didn't have to pay an extra fee to go on it each time because it is SO AMAZING. It flings you 275 feet in the air, at a rate of 90 MPH! After your initial launch, you kind of hang in mid air for awhile. You then get to control whether you spin or what you do as you make your back down to the ground. We hung our feet and swung them, just like if we were at a playground. I loved it..
