Sunday Grid Iron

What’s your favorite day?

In Elementary my automatic reaction to that question was FRIDAY! with a squeal. Naturally, it was because Friday was my early day at school. Friday was the day that meant the week was over, and the weekend was coming. I still love Fridays, but I can’t call them my favorite.

In High School, and up until the last year or so, my answer evolved to Saturday. Saturdays were for sleeping in, and not doing much. Even if I had to work at The Rack, somehow Saturdays were just different than other days. I still love Saturdays, but they’re not my favorite.

Now that I am busy, and go to school six out of the seven days in the week, my favorite day is Sunday. And, not for the usual reasons that Utahns say they love Sundays. I don’t go to any church, and I don’t really go to any family dinners. Sundays are my absolute favorites because I can sleep in, I can stay in my pajamas all day, and I do have time to sit around and do homework, do the laundry I’ve ignored all week, cuddle with my Oliver, and blog. These are the reasons I love Sunday.

But…. The best part about Sundays, during my favorite season is this:

Countdown to Turkey Time

>> November 25, 2009

I am a big Holiday person. I like each holiday for different reasons.. and when people try to get me to choose my favorite, I end up saying "Christmas" because its true, December IS the best time of year.. I love the foods, the smells, the lights, the cheesy Christmas movies, a few Christmas songs, and the decorations.

However, I get a little annoyed at Christmas each year. Because it just keeps coming sooner and sooner! On ABC Family they have their "25 days of Christmas" each December, from December 1st until the Big Day. This year I've noticed they have a COUNTDOWN to the 25 days of Christmas! What?! There's already been some Christmas movies on, and I'm like, what? I'm confused. I truly believe that Christmas shouldn't start until after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a Holiday too!!

So.. I decided to write a blog about Thanksgiving, and found this funny poem..
(Let's not discuss what many of us, including me, are thinking after we read this: No wonder America's fat!)

Belly Stuffer
Thanksgiving brings a terrible chore,
'Cause I’m forced to eat and eat some more.
If I don’t eat it up right down to dessert,
I fear the cook’s feelings will surely be hurt,
So I do my part, even though I suffer;
To be a good guest, I’m a belly stuffer.

as many of you know, I love Fall. The fabulous leaves are my favorite.. and when the snow comes (which I think always comes too early too!) I get a little sad, because the trees are then bare, and don't have any pretty leaves on them. I hate when Winter sets in. Ugh.

But, back to Thanksgiving.. What are your favorite things about Thanksgiving? To me,

Thanksgiving is..

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!
Cuz who doesn't love giant balloons?

Day of Thanks

>> November 27, 2008

I was looking for a Thanksgiving quote, and they all seemed so warm and fuzzy.. cheesy and annoying. Until I found this one:

On Thanksgiving Day, all over America, families sit down to
dinner at the same moment - halftime. ~ Anonymous

It's perfect.

GO COWBOYS!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
The football game is my favorite part of Thanksgiving.. But there are a few more things I love, like stuffing.. YUM! And the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - the ONLY Parade I ever actually enjoy watching. Maybe that stems from my obsession with the best Christmas movie ever, A Miracle on 34th Street with Natalie Wood, the CLASSIC!! Not the new one. Ick. But my all time favorite thing about Thanksgiving = the Day After. I'm poor as can be this year, but I'm still going to go shopping at least a little on the day after Thanksgiving. How can I not? It's Tradition!
